What is the Sent folder used for?

The Sent folder is used to store copies of messages you send from Mailshell. You can save a copy of any message you compose on Mailshell's site in this folder by checking the "Save copy in Sent folder" box. (By default, outgoing messages are not saved in the Sent folder unless you check that box. If you would like to save most of your outgoing messages, you can easily change the default.)

The Sent folder is also where Premium users can check the status of messages tracked messages.

To view your Sent folder, go to the Inbox section of Check Mail and use the "Current Folder" menu in the upper right to select "Sent," then click the "Go" button, or go to the Folders section of Check Mail and click the "Sent" link.

What is the Junk folder used for?

By default, incoming messages that Mailshell's Spam Catcher has identified as spam will be saved on Mailshell in the Junk folder. (How strict the system is in identifying possible spam depends on your Spam Catcher strength.) If you would like spam delivered somewhere else, you can change that setting, but please note that then you will not be able to use the "Not Junk" button to mark non-spam that has been inadvertently caught.

To view your Junk folder, go to the Inbox section of Check Mail and use the "Current Folder" menu in the upper right to select "Junk," then click the "Go" button, or go to the Folders section of Check Mail and click the "Junk" link. You can empty the Junk folder by going to the Folders section of Check Mail and clicking the "empty" link next to the folder name.

What should I do if a message in my Junk folder is not junk?

If a message is incorrectly sent to your Junk folder by the Spam Catcher, use the checkboxes on the left side to select the message and click the "Not Junk" button. The message will be moved to your Inbox and the sender will be added to your Approved Senders list.

What is the Trash folder used for?

Messages that you delete are not removed entirely; they are first sent to the Trash folder in case you change your mind or have deleted a message accidentally.

To view your Trash folder, go to the Inbox section of Check Mail and use the "Current Folder" menu in the upper right to select "Trash," then click the "Go" button, or go to the Folders section of Check Mail and click the "Trash" link. You can empty the Trash folder by clicking the "Empty Trash" link from within any folder or in the Folders section of Check Mail.

Please note: Messages in the Trash folder do count toward your storage quota. If you are running low on storage and are deleting messages, be sure to empty this folder. (Note that messages in your Trash folder older than 14 days will be automatically deleted by the system.)
