How do I create a new address?

You can create new addresses in the Disposable Email Addresses section of Spam Filtering. Enter the address you wish to create in the field at the top of your address list, use the menu to select where you want it delivered, and click the "Add" button.

Remember, though, you don't have to manually create an address in order to receive email at it (see below).

Please note: Addresses can use only letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), periods ("."), and underscores ("_") and, like all email addresses, they are not case-sensitive (e.g., "family@yourname.com" is the same as "FaMily@yourname.com").

How many addresses can I create?

There is no limit to the number of addresses you can create.

Do I have to return to Mailshell every time I want to create a new address?

Nope! You can give out email addresses that you haven't explicitly created and you will still receive email sent there: those messages will be delivered according to the delivery setting for your pending addresses and will be kept as pending addresses until you approve or delete them.

Can I use non-standard characters in my addresses?

No: addresses can use only letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), hyphens, ("-"), periods ("."), and underscores ("_") and, like all email addresses, they are not case-sensitive (e.g., "family@your-name.com" is the same as "FaMily@your-name.com").

How do I sort my addresses?

From the Disposable Email Addresses section of Spam Filtering, you can sort your addresses by name or delivery setting. To do this, click the appropriate column header. Click the header again to reverse the direction of the sort.

You can also change your default address sort by using the Display Options.

Can I change how many addresses appear on a page?

Yes: you can choose how many addresses you want to appear on a page by using the Display Options.

How do I delete an address?

If you wish to stop receiving email at a disposable address, you can do so in the Disposable Email Addresses section of Spam Filtering. Select the addresses you wish to delete using the checkboxes on the left side, then click the "Delete" button at the bottom of the page. All messages sent to the address will then bounce back to the sender as undeliverable and the address will be removed from your list.

If you change your mind, you can easily recover the address.

What happens to email sent to addresses I have deleted?

Email sent to an address you have deleted will bounce back to the sender as undeliverable.

Is there a way to see a list of addresses I have deleted?

You can see a list of deleted addresses by clicking the "View Deleted Addresses" link at the bottom of the Disposable Email Addresses section of Spam Filtering.

If I delete an address, can I recover it later?

If you change your mind about an address you have deleted, you can recover it by going to the Disposable Email Addresses section of Spam Filtering and clicking the "View Deleted Addresses" link at the bottom of the page. You'll see a list of all the addresses you have deleted; use the checkboxes to select the addresses you wish to recover, then click the "Undelete" button. The addresses will be restored to your list and will receive email normally.
