How to Configure Eudora for IMAP Access

These step-by-step instructions will show you how to configure Eudora 5.0 for IMAP access.

Please note: Be sure to read the instructions carefully--much of the information given is for example purposes only. If you enter the example information, Eudora will not be configured correctly.

Step 1

Select Tools > Options... from the main menu.

Step 2

Select "Getting Started" and enter the requested information:

Real Name: Enter your name (in the example, this is given as "Jane Smith")
Return Address: Enter your email address (in the example, this is given as "jane@isp.com"); this address is used as the reply-to address when you send messages using your client and will not affect which messages you can download from Mailshell, so you can enter any of your Mailshell addresses or any outside address
Mail Server (Incoming): Enter "imap.mailshell.com"
Login Name: Enter the name you use to sign in with Mailshell (in the example, this is given as "username")
STMP Server (Outgoing): Enter your ISP's SMTP server (in the example, this is given as "smtp.isp.com"; if you aren't sure what this server is, contact your ISP) and, if your server requires it, check the "Allow authentication" box

Step 3

Select "Checking Email" and enter the requested information:

Mail Server: Enter "imap.mailshell.com"
Login Name: Enter the name you use to sign in with Mailshell (in the example, this is given as "username")

Step 4

Select "Incoming Email" and enter the requested information:

Server Configuration: Select "IMAP"
Authentication Style: Select "Passwords"

Step 5

Click the OK button. You should now be able to start using your IMAP account!
